Korean Word of the Day: 정문화

This is a concept that is difficult to define, apparently even in the Korean language but here we are going to try to understand the meaning of 정문화.

정문화 is a special feeling of love, kinship, community, or sense of "togetherness". It expresses a direct relationship between two things, whether those things be people or material things.

정문화 is a personal feeling but can also be a sort of collective conscious feeling of emotions. It is not one specific emotion such as love, hate, or fear, but an ambiguous term. Therefore, 정문화 is a malleable entity.

정문화 is represented in behavior by a sense of loyalty and commitment.

Now, here is an important note: This sense of "Jeong" is also expressed through language. Therefore, we don't say "my husband" or "my country" rather, you would say "our husband" and "our country". This is difficult for speakers of English to grasp, especially since saying the collective "our" can be confusing.
