N Burger - Great Burger Worth the Hike!

Wow, if youre looking for a great burger, you may have to literally take a hike to get to it. N. Seoul Tower, or more colloquially known as Namsan Tower,  is home to a pretty awesome burger joint. The popular destination gets a regular  influx of visitors who routinely make the migration to this landmark partly thanks to featured spots in Korean dramas and movies. The spot has become famous, not only for its significance of being the highest viewpoint in Seoul, but also for the number of quality dining establishments in the area.

If you can manage to navigate your way to the mountain from Myeong-dong Subway Station, then you should be fine. Maps and road signs are posted at every intersection, so even though the roads are winding and seemingly run forever, trust that you will make it to the top.

But for now, this post is mostly focused on the delicious cheeseburger that awaits you. I honestly haven’t had a great cheeseburger since coming to Korea, probably because I don't regularly go hunting for Americana but sometimes I get those hunger pangs like everybody else. So, while I wasn't really expecting a whole lot, this burger caught me totally by surprise. This burger was everything it needed to be: greasy, messy, cheesy, saucy. In other words, the best kind of burger. My Tower Burger had a good crunch because it was topped with a large fried onion ring. The bread just barely held everything together and didn't get in the way of the double patty and cheese. There was a slice of tomato in the middle and some kind of special sauce, maybe a spicy mayonnaise? After skipping breakfast and then walking up that mountain, it really hit the spot.

The pricing was more than fair, especially considering that places tend to gouge you at tourist traps, the burgers were remarkably moderately priced. 11,000 won for the Tower Burger and somewhere around 7,500 won for the Classic Burger. With the fries and cola set option, it ran us right around 25,000 won for the entire meal. Hardly breaking the bank.

The fries weren’t really that special. They were thin-cut and covered with a flavored powder, which is popular in Korea, but I generally am not a fan of it. One big plus is that they leave the ketchup packets out on the self-serve area, which is pretty unique. A lot of places that I frequent tend to only hand out a single packet of ketchup with my order. I hate rationing my ketchup!

Anyway, that's just one spot that I thought you'd like to try. If you're not someone who regularly visits touristy places and were on the fence about visiting N Seoul Tower, the decent burger at the top may be enough to convince you to go. It certainly is a good reward after walking to the top.
