1. You have more freedom.
Financially, other than maybe your student loans, which are a helluva commitment, odds are you don’t have any real big financial ties that shackle you in place. Even better if you don’t have a house to pay for or even a car to drive around. For some English teachers who teach abroad, even their furniture is kept to a minimum. They might not even own a couch! A lot of English teachers live’s are one step above backpacker and it feels good to be able to pack up and go if need be. Also, a lot of people in their late 20s are unmarried. Having another person to be responsible for is stressful. It’s a lot to think about and you can’t make big decisions without involving them. If you’re not married at the moment, and the odds are more likely that you’re not than are, then that’s another good thing about being in your late 20s.
2. You look and feel good.
As we approach thirty, we like to joke around a lot and say that we’re old. The truth is, we’re probably approaching the best time of our lives in terms of how we look and feel. If you’re like a lot of people, maybe you’ve gained a few pounds during your college years. Too many nights of eating pizza and drinking beer. But now that you can afford to buy healthier food, and don’t reserve every night as a drinking night, you’ve had the chance to focus a little more on your health and well-being. Maybe you joined a yoga class or gym or are doing the latest and greatest diet. Either way, you’re making some healthy life choices and they are paying off.
3. You earn more money.
Chances are, you’re doing a little better than that first job you got straight out of college, you’ve started plugging away at that massive student loan debt, and your finances are getting pretty straight and narrow. Thankfully, you’re a little more responsible and your bank account thanks you for that. You’re no longer living paycheck-to-paycheck and can afford to open up the wallet whether it’s for an anniversary gift or a night out in the city. You’ve got some financial goals - maybe saving up for a nice vacation? - and are diligently working towards them. Maybe you’ve even traded in your old car for a later model. Being in your late 20s by no stretch of the imagination means you’re stable, but you’re getting your foothold and emerging from that financial minefield of your early 20s.
So, there it is. That's my list! How about you? What's your stage of life? Are you currently satisfied, or do you think about improving your lifestyle? If you're thinking about making a change, head over to www.ventureesl.com and explore some of our job opportunities.
